The Enhanced Games: A Trojan Horse for Transhumanism
Article by Squalor
Intro
Occasionally a Twitter post will go viral for ironically suggesting that there should be a version of the Olympics that allows its athletes to use steroids just to “see what the human body can really do.” What was once only an absurd joke has become a reality through the "Enhanced Games." Framing itself as the “Olympics of the Future”, this new version of the Olympics is explicitly focused on glorifying the use of performance enhancing drugs as a celebration of science and inclusivity. Beneath the seemingly innocent exterior is an insidious propaganda ploy—a transhumanist cult's calculated effort to push its twisted ideology onto the wider public.
The sales pitch and the vested interests
Both the marketing and the backers are revealing. Its official website boasts of the games being a “bold step toward redefining human potential,” one that aims to “inspire the evolution of humanity.” “Want to evolve humanity?” the website asks: then “Join the team.” The marketing message is clear: through science and technology we will be able to “improve” the human species. By merging ourselves with technology we can become faster and stronger, recover quicker from illness or injury, and transcend natural limitations. We can become hyper-efficient. Hyper-resilient. Superhuman. The same grandiose rhetoric echoes that of other transhumanist ventures such as Neuralink, which promises to “unlock human potential” by merging people with machines. As for who is behind this project: one investor is Christian Angermayer, the “world’s leading advocate”[1] for bioengineering humans. Christian has founded two biotech companies, Rejuveron Life Sciences and Cambrian Biopharma, and has said that Enhanced aligns with his “vision for the Next Human Agenda.” Most notably, Christian is also the driving force behind Blackrock Neurotech, a leading brain-computer interface (BCI) developer. Blackrock Neurotech has already implanted almost 50 BCIs in patients’ brains, outdoing Musk’s Neuralink which reported had only 3 patients as of January 2025. Peter Thiel, another prominent technocrat that backs Blackrock Neurotech, is also a major investor in the Enhanced Games. Thiel governs Breakout Ventures and the Thiel Fellowship, both of which fund research into artificial intelligence and "life extension." Breakout Ventures is focused on funding radical or unorthodox scientific research that may fail to be appealing or comprehensible to more traditional funding sources. Among the medical advisors for the Enhanced Games is Harvard's George Church, one of the world's most prominent and publicized geneticists. He founded Colossal Bioscience, a company best known for "de-extinction" projects but is also working to create artificial wombs.[2] We have therefore a stacked team of technocrats, many of whom are heavily invested in their own transhumanist projects and clearly see the Games as a powerful avenue to promote them.
It's no accident that this is happening at the same time transhumanist ventures like Neuralink and Blackrock Neurotech are feverishly working to develop technologies of human-machine integration. The Enhanced Games merely represents the PR front of an emerging industry--an ecosystem--of companies and organizations with a common set of values and priorities in promoting transhumanist technology. It's no wonder therefore that the PR put out by these individual companies mirrors the Games's own PR. Both the Enhanced Games and Neuralink frame bioengineering as a way to “unlock human potential,” with the Games promoting the biotechnological enhancement of strength and endurance and Neuralink promoting the same for cognitive enhancement. The main thrust of Neuralink's mission is to create brain chips to allow humanity to merge with Artificial Intelligence. Musk claims that such a device is necessary to ensure humans keep up with AI lest it renders them obsolete. Indeed this may happen far sooner than most are prepared for, and AI has already begun to replace people in the workforce. He predicts that hundreds of millions of people will have these chips implanted in the coming decades. The deeper implications here are that BCIs will be used to shape people into more efficient and obedient cogs in the technological system. These advances, far from being used to “liberate” people, will be used to make them more machine-like in service of large organizations.
Molding public attitudes to suit the trajectory of biotechnology
In pushing transhumanism to the mainstream there will be moral and attitudinal barriers held by the general public, so the system must work to undermine these obstacles. This is where PR campaigns like the Enhanced Games come in.
On its face it looks like a group of people that saw a Twitter meme (or SNL skit) and ran with it. For many, the initial reaction will be to view it as a cynical cash-grab or a mere spectacle. However, there is a blatant pro-transhumanism agenda here that is more than mere marketing ploy. These games will likely serve as a gateway to not only normalize the public with biohacking, human augmentation, and the merging of human consciousness with technology, but to frame these things in an uncritically positive light. The average Joe is left stunned by the dizzying feats that these “Enhanced” individuals are able to do with seeming ease, and thinks only of the potential benefits that could come from “enhancing” themselves too. “With modifications like the BioPlus Implant our ‘Enhanced’ athletes were able to shatter previous world records and do things previously thought to be impossible! Don’t you want a BioPlus Implant too?” How thrilling! Concerns around loss of privacy and freedom that could come with getting a Neuralink-esque chip tethered to one's brain become that much easier to drown out through this calculated propaganda. Human-machine hybrids become not only natural in the minds of the public, but something to aspire to. Far more disturbing scenarios centered around how this technology will evolve over time and how it will shape society as a whole are easily glossed over. Given the influence of billionaire technocrat backers and the overall framing of the games, it’s hard to ignore that this initiative is being used as a platform to promote transhumanist ideals to the public—even if that’s not the sole purpose.
The True Hidden Costs
What are the long-term implications of a world in which people are merged with technology? No one can know. How this technology interacts with and shapes society over the course of decades will ultimately be out of our hands. Given the past record of humanity’s use of technology, it is only expected that the close link of people and machines will have social ramifications that are impossible to predict or control. However, we can be reasonably certain that this will accelerate already strong pre-established social trends.
As the techno-industrial system continues to grow, and, so long as human labor is (still) needed for its growth, it will need to push people further and further past their natural limits. We can already observe that people are being pushed to the very brink of what they can tolerate (and looking at the mental illness and substance abuse rates in society today, few seem to be tolerating it well). If brain chips like Neuralink can be used to push people past their natural limits, allowing them to tolerate conditions that would otherwise be intolerable, then these people will be heavily selected for by a technological system composed of competing organizations that prioritize short-term power and efficiency above all else. Individuals who resist over concerns about human freedom and dignity will inevitably be outcompeted and displaced. The resulting people will be more efficient by being, effectively, less human.
This social situation need not arise through any authoritarian imposition. What typically happens is a gradual process of social evolution where the adoption of each technology by individuals is forced on them not by law but by economic and social circumstances. Consider the issue of technologies allowing unprecedented levels of surveillance, and giving governments and corporations access to our private thoughts and feelings. When people first adopted smartphones no one knew that everyone could be tracked at any moment by a device they voluntarily keep on their person. No one knew that companies would develop algorithms that manipulated us and were designed to steal as much of our attention as possible. What would have been unthinkable and unacceptable to someone just a few decades ago is now unflinchingly accepted by the majority of modern society. And notice, crucially, that smartphone use is no longer functionally optional. While there is no law compelling its use, our society has evolved in such a way that refusing to use a smartphone comes with an intolerably high cost. If you think smartphones are bad, try to imagine how transhumanist projects could eventually erode privacy, freedom, and dignity.
Exploiting preexisting leftist sympathies
“We think that this is a very important social movement, where we can literally end the oppression of science in sports…” —Aron D’Souza, president of Enhanced Games[3]
The people behind the Enhanced Games seem to have recognized that leveraging strong pre-established leftist sympathies provides a powerful tool to drive acceptance of transhumanism to the masses. Chunks of the initial Enhanced website read like a bizarre parody of the left’s obsession with identity politics, equating steroid users with LGBT individuals, offering tips on how to “come out as enhanced,”[4] denouncing “doping”[5] as a “colonist slur”[6] that harkens back to violence against the Black community,[7] and also asking for help to edit Wikipedia in order to “remove anti-science hate.”[8] By using leftist and progressive language the technocratic class aims to solicit public sympathy for technological “enhancements.” Thus, anyone who resists the idea that humans be bioengineered out of very serious and well-grounded concerns over the long-term social implications is “backwards” and “oppressive.”[9] The effect is to grant the technocratic class the moral high ground to advance their own goals without scrutiny. No, they are not pushing a self-serving agenda that would give them even greater control of humanity—they are on a righteous crusade to further progress and push back against hate and discrimination, so the thinking goes.
On its face an odd spectacle, in actuality a vehicle to push the interests of the technocratic elite. The transhumanist agenda has the potential to reshape humanity in ways that are deeply disturbing, with negative consequences that will be impossible to predict in advance. These games could help usher in an era where personal autonomy is sacrificed for the promise of progress, and the boundaries of what it means to be human are pushed to their limits. The inaugural Enhanced Games began on May 24, 2026 and have already concluded.
